January 16, 2014 Minutes

Mike Keeler opened the meeting at 7:05 and reviewed the agenda

John Cherry read the minutes. Motion to approve the minutes was accepted and approved, with one correction.

Sherry Hayden presented the Treasurers’ reports for September (amended), November, and January. A motion to approve the reports was made and seconded. The motion passed.

Real Estate Report – Mark Fisher

  • Active for sale now – 28, 5 are foreclosures and 5 short sales
  • 10 pendings right now 2 are foreclosures and 2 short sales. We are seeing a reduction in percentage of distressed sales.
  • Solds in the last 2 months – 8 houses. Same period last year it was 12 houses.

 

Marketing Report – John Cherry

  •  Working with Olmsted Associates, had a meeting a few weeks ago with another meeting scheduled for next week
  •  We will have a preview for the next meeting
  • It will contain the resources that we have developed for residents and also be outward facing to advertise to potential new residents

Department of Public Works – Howard Croft

  • Howard Croft discussed his background and the process that brought him to head the Department of Public Works for the City
  • Has been involved in the Genesee Towers implosion, the response to the power outage, and the snow emergency
  • Answered questions from neighborhood
  • The City will start drawing water from the Flint River in April until Karengondi is operational

Mike Herriman – Neighborhood watch

  • The individual who was going around to houses asking for help and robbing people has been arrested, he works over several counties and we were the neighborhood that caught him
  • Mike updated the group on a pitbull attack and on a previous perpetrator who is now out on probation and is violating his probation

 

John Hartranft – Crim Fitness Foundation

  • Last year Crim had its first Tour de Crim
  • This year they are going to fully close the route and they need volunteers to assist in manning the route
  • They are going to have four “grass-roots” races that are 5k this year and they would like Pierce Park to be one of the races

 

Monica Galloway – 7th Ward City Councilwoman

  • Answered questions asked by the group
  • She was named to the finance committee
  • Discussed the snowstorm issues

 

Announcements

  • Andy plowed our roads during the winter storm on his tractor
  • Goodwill recycles electronics, if you need them
  • No Plastic bags in recycling
